Sweet Summertime

Holy cow! It has been a loooonnnnnnngggg time since I have blogged! I have been super duper busy! I successfully completed my first year of college this month! Praise the Lord! It went by super fast and it was a lot of fun! (Minus the actual school work that was not fun at all) I am about to start my summer class in a few short days so it’s back to the grind for 5 weeks! blahhhhh! But at least it is only one class and it’s online! I love online classes! I am taking a random class called Technology in Education because it was the only 1000 level class left to choose from. Hopefully it will be a breeze!

I have been busy working at the HPER where I am a professional card scanner and I am also Nanning. But I am super happy and blessed to have a job! I am really excited to go to Texas tomorrow for my cousin Luke's graduation! I don't get to see them nearly enough! Then we are going camping! I LOVE camping and being on the lake with my family! I cannot wait!

I love the simplicity of summer! Low stress and no real schedule. I also love sleeping in. My sleep schedule has recently been interrupted by the construction that is literally taking place 10 feet from my bedroom window. Thankfully I think they are finished building the structure so hopefully it will quiet down soon!

Oh! I am finally settled into my apartment! I love not being in the dorm now! I love having my own kitchen and my own bedroom! I will post pictures soon when I get it decorated just like I want it!

A couple of weeks ago my friend Sydney stayed with me! I loved having her here! She made me dinner every night that was so yummy! I could get used to a personal chef! Then she left to go on a study abroad trip to Belize for like three weeks! She is also going to India for six weeks later in the summer! She is a world traveler! Keep her in your prayers! Syd I hope you are having a blast, not getting eaten by bugs, and not getting tired of beans for breakfast!

Last weekend was Memorial Day weekend! It was a busy weekend for both Adam and I. We both worked Saturday and Sunday and then Adam had to work all day Monday. After we got off of work on Saturday we headed up to Rogers to go to a kayak store. Adam is getting a new kayak soon so we looked around the store for a while then we went to eat at Red Lobster! It was so yummmyyyyy! We also went to see What to Expect When You're Expecting. It was pretty funny! I went over to Madison's apartment complex and used her pool! It was a gorgeous day but I got extremely burnt! Like miserably burnt! Just a little FYI sunscreen does expire! I had sunscreen with SPF 50 and I reapplied! Needless to say I looked like a lobster! It is finally starting to get better and turn into a tan! Thank goodness I don't look like a ghost anymore!

I am realizing that this is the most random blog with no particular order! But I have not blogged in a really long time!

Adam and I on the day of the Spring game!

I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer so far! I am going to try to update this more often!

Its Been A While

Well its been forever since I have been on here! For many reasons: spring break, stress, and my computer Hewey is sick. He does not seem to want to come on. His fan start up but the screen just remains black. I suppose I will take him to the Geek Squad at Best Buy tomorrow :(

So a little recap of my life the past 18 day goes a little like this:

I went to Washington DC over spring break with my mom, dad, sister, and brother. We had a blast and it was so much fun being together as a family! Here are a few pictures from our wonderful trip:

Then after spring break all the stresses of school sadly returned. Since I am not going home this summer I was needing a place to stay. Madison and I had casually been looking for apartments since Mid-February. As we continued on this search it became evident that we had different things in mind. So although we will not be living together this summer and next year I am happy to report that both of us have found apartments! Hallelujah!!!! (that is a hard word to spell, I always have to get spell check to help me out) But we did not let this come in between our friendship! If anything it made our friendship better! I am so thankful to have good friends! So although we no longer have the stress of locating an apartment, we now have the stress of decorating our apartments and making them all pretty! And that may turn out to be a bigger deal than finding the apartment for the two of us! We like our living spaces to be beautiful!

This past weekend I made a quick trip back to Sharp County to see my little sister all dressed up for prom! She looked absolutely gorgeous and I was so happy that I was able to go home and see her! I realized this weekend that I was getting older because my little sister was at prom and I was laying on the couch watching the news with my dad. I guess that's part of growing up. Then on Saturday  Adam's sister Hillary had her prom. It was one prom filled weekend for me! She also looked absolutely gorgeous! We both have beautiful little sisters inside and out!

The end of my first full year of college is approaching rapidly. From this very moment in time there is 1 month, 8 days, 9 hours, 30 minutes, and 55 seconds until summer is here for me! I absolutely cannot wait! I am ready from a break from school work! It will be here before I know it! On not such a happy note I have a 5 page physics paper that is due at 9:30 am Tuesday that I have not started. I absolutely hate that class but I have to have it in order to graduate so I will just have to suck it up.

I hope that everyone has an excellent week!

Where Have I Been

Wow I haven't blogged in over a week! Yes, I am still alive.

So on Sunday my cousin Caitlin came up from Texas! I was so excited to see her and get to hangout! I hadn't seen her since my graduation last May! I had such a fun past few days hanging out with Caitlin, Emily, and some of Em's friends! We had some really good laughs over the past few days! I am sad that she has to go back tomorrow morning! :(

Here are some pictures from the past few days!

Eating at Hammontree's off of Dickson!

Me, Cait, & Em on Cait's campus tour!

After a little campus tour we went to PackRat and took this picture in a Canoe!

Emily - "Okay do this" Caitlin -"Why are we saluting?"
hahahahahahah

Then we went to Mount Sequoyah which is a gorgeous overlook that looks down over Fayetteville.

The cross at sunset.

After it lit up! Simply amazing.

We had planned on going to Crystal Bridges today but guess what! They are closed on Tuesdays! Seriously Tuesdays?!?!?!?! So we didn't get to go!  :( We just ate lunch at Subway and then headed to Rogers to do a little bit of shopping! Then we finished up with so Fro-Yo at Orange Leaf. It was such a good day! Then something funny happened when we went back to Em's apartment today. Her roommate Miranda decided that she was going to make herself some cornbread. She was preheating the oven and we were all sitting in the living room. Emily looked over and there were flames in the oven! OMG! Miranda, Cait, and I were freaking out! Its a good thing the Emily was cool, calm, and collected. Miranda started searching for the fire extinguisher then Cait ran out in the hall to get the big one! Emily remembered that flour would put out a grease fire so thankfully there was some on the counter and she quickly put it out! We didn't burn down the apartment today!

Caitlin the firefighter!

I had such a fun time that past few days! I'm excited that we get to see Caitlin and her entire family in just a little over two months because of Luke's graduation! Yay!

Oh and next week is SPRING BREAK! WOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO! I am so ready for a break!

Have a good day!

Alex :)

Monday

Usually I don't mind Mondays. But today has not been a good Monday and it's only 10:15am.

I woke up late so I didn't have time to get a shower. (ewe I know) I feel gross. Then in my 7:30 class I realized that i forgot about a meeting for work that I was suppose to have attended yesterday. It's not a big deal because there's another one on Wednesday. It just makes me mad. My first class usually gets out early which is good because my next class is completely on the other side of campus. (I tracked it one time and it was 3/4ths of a mile away) Well today we got out later than usual. Which wouldn't have been a big deal except that I had a test in my 8:30 class. Which I was not adequately prepared for plus I had to rush to class to get there on time. Well I made it to the test but didn't feel like it went very well. I got my grade back and I did okay it just makes me mad because I could have easily made a really good grade if I had studied.

Oh well. If this is the worst day I have this week I am still pretty blessed. Some people would love to have the opportunities that I have everyday. Maybe a good run after class will help get my mind straightened back out. I am having a date with the library tonight so that I can get organized an tackle some things for the week.

I hope you're having a good day. :)

Great Weekend

So I will start by telling you my funny dream that I had on Friday night:

Madison and I were going home for the weekend and we had all of our
stuff packed and ready to go. {Side note: Madison and I don't travel light}
So we go to walk to my car and I realized that my car was in Huntsville (which is 40ish
minutes from Fayetteville) So we had all of our bags and we started walking to
Huntsville. There were several creepy people who stopped and asked us if we needed
help but we respectfully declined. Then this nice SUV stopped and offered us help.
It was Oprah people! Yes Oprah! We were so excited! We got our picture taken
with her and she asked if we needed help but we again said no (what were we thinking?!?!?)
But she told us to call her best friend Gayle if we needed any help (if you watched her
show you know who Gayle is) So we continue walking. We finally reach Huntsville.
My car was no where to be found. I then realized that I had parked my car in a
different parking lot than usual on campus. Then I woke up so I don't know what happened.
I have crazy dreams like this all the time.

But anyways.......

I had a fabulous weekend. It started Friday when Adam's parents came up for the day. We did some shopping, hanging out, and we went to eat on Friday night at this place called Herman's here in Fayetteville! Saturday Adam and I just hung out all day and then we attempted to grill out and make dinner but it didn't go very well. It was soooooo windy and we couldn't keep the charcoal lit so we had to go to plan B. Which was perfectly fine with me! We went to U.S. Pizza and it was sooooooooo yummy! I love that place! Then we decided that we would be wild and crazy and go to a late movie! We went to the 9:40 showing of the movie Act of Valor.

The movie was really good. It is crazy to think about what all of the brave people who serve our country do to protect us everyday. I know I take it for granted. My favorite kinds of movies are comedies, chick flicks, or anything where they live happily ever after. If you are wanting to see a movie like that this is not the one for you. However, if you are into high intensity, realistic movies you would be all over it. Adam loves these kinds of movies. I on the other hand had to close my eyes a few times. I just can't take some stuff. But that was our Saturday and it was a lot of fun!

Sunday morning Madison, Adam, and I got up and went to church. I love that I get to start my week out at church! It is so refreshing and gives me the little boost I need to get through the week. Funny story: I was driving and we were almost to the turn in for church and there was this small box in the road. I thought that Blaze {my Trailblazer} could take this little box. We were in traffic so I didn't really have any room to serve and miss it so I just went straight over it. Well this silly little box got stuck under my car. Instead of just coming out after we went a little ways it continued to stay wedged between my car and the road. It was making this terrible noise and I am sure it was obnoxious from the outside. But good news! The box finally came out from beneath my car when we were turning into the parking spot. I was not looking forward to having to crawl under Blaze to get this silly box.

After church we went to get lunch at Sonic and I have a new favorite Sonic drink: Cranberry Peach Slushes! They are fantastic! One of my friends from my Intro to Communication Disorders class suggested it! Then Madison's mom got into town later in the day. We went to eat tonight at Red Lobster and it was so delicious!

I need to be studying for a test that I have tomorrow and I keep procrastinating!
I hope you all have a great week!

Adam

Adam and I played a little Frisbee yesterday! It was so pretty outside but it was soooooo windy! {which didn't help my poor Frisbee skills} But it was still lots of fun!

When I ask to take a picture this is what I get from him... every time!

So then we have to try again.....

Then we decided to go on a walk. We went to Old Main Lawn in search of my Pops name on senior walk. I can't find 1983! I swear it doesn't exist. I can find 1981, 1982....1984, 1985 etc. One day before I graduate I will find it! I am determined! But we did find three peoples names that we knew! Its encouraging. One day we will have our names on there! (Lord willing)

Also, for Valentines day I was so excited because instead of flowers Adam got me mini Coke Zeros! Now most girls would have been mad about this but to me there was nothing else greater or more perfect! I love me some Coke Zero! He knows me well! Then last night he said he got me a "prize." What did he get me?!?!? PEEPS! I love those things! I was so excited! :)

March

Happy March 1st everyone!

I'm talking as if I have a million followers! {In my head I do :) } Its another pretty day here in NWA! You will probably get tired of me talking about how perfect it is, but I don't care because I like it a lot! It is a tad bit windy though! This picture describes my life today:
But for real the wind is seriously blowing like 100 mph today!

Today is laundry day for me. Laundry is kind of a hassle around here. I miss being able to do laundry at home where I could just leave my laundry unattended then go put it in the dryer whenever I felt like it. I also miss having a big room like I did at home. I rarely ever folded my laundry at home because I had a futon and I just pilled all of my clean clothes on it! I mean I was going to wear them in a few days anyway. It seemed kind of pointless to waste my time folding them. None of this is an option anymore since I live in a dorm. The washers take exactly 50 minutes from the time you start them until they are finished so it is critical that you be in the laundry room as soon as they are finished or someone will take them out. Not all of my clothes can be dried so this is very important. However, it is very nice to be able to do 5 loads of laundry at a time! I will miss that!

The best things about Thursday is that tomorrow is Friday! Hallelujah! It has been a long week! and I have a test tomorrow. Madison's mom is coming on Sunday and staying until Tuesday! It's exciting to see people from home! That means that we should probably clean up our room! A tornado hit it the night before and I am pretty  sure it was an F5!

I am so glad that I lived in the dorms! It has been a great way to meet people however, I am over dorm life. I am ready to have an apartment where there's a kitchen, normal sized refrigerator, bigger closet space, seating other than desk chairs and beds, and my own room. Nothing against Madison. We have both loved living together, but we are both ready to have some space that is our own. We have a lot of crap valuable belongings. :)

That is all for today. I am sure you guys loved hearing about my laundry day!

One more thing

I also thought that I would tell you guys that my roommate and best friend Madison also has a blog! She's pretty cool too! You should go read it: madisonjfuller.blogspot.com :)

Holy Cow!

Holy Cow! Where in the world did January and February go?!?!?!? It seriously seems like yesterday I was in Ash Flat celebrating the new year. I always thought older people had no idea what they were talking about when they said the older you get the faster time goes by. Its totally true. I can't believe that on the 12th of March I will have lived in Fayetteville for 7 months! That is completely crazy.

Tomorrow is March! I am so excited for March! Spring break is only in 3 weeks! Praise the Lord! I am in need of a break! All of these early mornings and class is killing me! So I will be so happy when it is 11:20am on March 16th. That's the beginning of Spring Break 2012!

Just a little fact about me: I LOVE FREE STUFF! I cannot even remember all of the free stuff I have collected over the past 7 months. (Now they call it free but I am sure they hid it somewhere in our $1000 worth of "fees.") But that is beside the point! Today in the Union I picked up this cute little T-shirt for "free".
The back of the shirt! :)
My friend Morgan and I each got a shirt, M&Ms, Cokes, and pizza all for free! We enjoyed it out on the patio of the Union. It was such a beautiful day here today! I feel like God has been spoiling us all throughout February with this perfect weather! I am so thankful!
I snapped this picture on my way to class today as I was walking across Old Main Lawn. :)
I loved having two classes in there last semester!

I hope everyone has had a Fantastic February and has a Magnificent March! :)

Best Day Ever

My Tuesdays and Thursdays always start before the sun comes up. I work the opening shift at work which requires me to get out of bed at 5:00am. But, the bright side of waking up so early is that I am off work by 9:00am which is really awesome! As I was about to hike (literally hike...I don't know if you have seen the hills in Fayetteville but take my word for it when I say they are ridiculous) up the hill to class to Physics & Human Affairs (which is my least favorite class of all time, but I have to have it to graduate and that is my ultimate goal so I am stuck in there) I got an email from my teacher saying that he was sick therefore class was canceled! OMG! Hallelujah! I was so excited! Its only 9:00am and this is the best day ever. Then I realized that it is 9:00am and I am finished with everything I have to do for the day! and to top it off it is the most beautiful day in Northwest Arkansas today! It is 57 degrees already and the sun is out and there isn't a single cloud in the sky! I tried to take a picture but none of the pictures did it justice! Just take my word for it when I say that its absolutely gorgeous!

Another thing that always happens on Tuesdays and Thurdays is that I get finished with work and class before Madison even gets out of bed. Our schedules are completely opposite. I am done at 11:00 and she doesn't start class until 1:30! I am so jealous that she gets to sleep in all of the time but I am so glad to be done so early! I snapped this little picture of here a little bit ago. She is still sound asleep in the bunk right above me. She doesn't even know that I am in here.
Sleeping Beauty :)

And I just think this is hilarious! Madison sent me this yesterday!
I love it! Finding Nemo is one of my all time favorites!
Yes I know I'm a little kid but I still laugh just as hard every single time I watch that movie.

My Aunt is going to be in Fayetteville today and I can't wait to see her! I haven't seen her since Christmas! I also think I will take advantage of this weather and go running today! I am in the process of training for a half marathon. I know I'm crazy but I think I will feel so accomplished after completing it. It isn't until the middle of April so I will keep you posted. My goal is just to make it across the finish line. I want to run as much of it as possible but there are some pretty killer hills on the route. They kick your butt every time. :)

Thought I would share this too! I got it from a girl off of twitter
but I just think it is so beautiful and captures the beauty of the UofA.
I bet my school is prettier than yours! I love it!

That is all for this post! I hope your day is going as well as mine!

How Could I Ever Ask For More

So lately I have been feeling overwhelmingly thankful and simply blessed.

I am so thankful that God has lead me to where I am right now in life. I LOVE college and I LOVE Fayetteville! {My computer (Hewey) just flashed up a box saying plug me in now or he would be powering off soon! Scary} Anyways, I love every single thing about Fayetteville! I love the beautiful scenery, the lack of rednecks, the assortment of restaurants, the diversity, and of course the GORGEOUS University of Arkansas Campus and the Hogs! I am taken back everyday by Gods work.

I am also so very thankful for all of the wonderful people in my life right now. I am so happy to be rooming with my best friend Madison {and yes it has been nearly 7 months and we still are best friends}. We have made so many memories together in our 100 sq/ft room. I wish everyone could be a fly on the wall sometimes because there are some pretty hilarious things that happen in these walls. Like this.....
Like the time when we tried to roast Peeps with a hairdryer.(No candles or open flame is aloud in our dorm)
and when we got rejuvenating mask and decided to have a photo shoot

I am also thankful that Adam and I are attending the same university and get to spend so much time together! I love being able to cook at his apartment and escape nasty cafeteria food. I love going on little dates and just in general being with him everyday. We were two of the top 100 students who have attended the most sporting events this year. Out of a campus of over 23,000. We have been to football games, basketball games (men & women), baseball, volleyball, soccer (man was that confusing), swimming and diving, and last week we went to a gymnastics meet! We both got to go home last weekend to see our families! I love both of our families dearly. I wish that we could go see them more often. I am so happy to have an amazing family! I miss them everyday! But I look forward to going home to see them whenever I get a chance. I love them all so much!

This is us at the baseball game last week! So happy for warmer weather!

I am also thankful for finding a church that I enjoy attending each Sunday. Before I moved to Fayetteville I was worried about finding a church where I felt comfortable but I feel like Cross Church Fayetteville is where I am suppose to be. I was also able to get involved in a small group through the church with other college girls and several of my friends. It reminds me of my Wednesday night church group from home. I look forward to go every Thursday night! It is a nice relief and escape from the stresses of school.
Madison and I on our way to church on Sunday morning.

A few days after I moved into my dorm I met Sydney D. She is one of my best friends and I hope we remain friends forever. She is a great Christian example and the kind of friend that anyone would die to have.  I feel so thankful that God crossed our paths. I feel like He strategically placed Sydney in my life for a multitude of reasons.
Sydney and I in our cute red coats at a football game!

I am also thankful for my job. I work at the HPER (the recreational facility on campus) and I absolutely love it. It is not a stressful job at all. My daily duties consist of showing up, sitting at a desk with a computer and scan patrons ID cards. So easy. A big bonus of having this job is that it is right next to my dorm and I get to work on my homework while I am at work! I basically get paid to do my homework! Its amazing!

I am also incredibly thankful that the good Lord has spared us of a brutally cold winter! I can only remember a handful of days that were really chilly. I was so sad when it snowed a couple weeks ago and the University still had classes. :( Madison and I decided we weren't in Sharp County anymore where the back roads could keep you out of school for a week. They pre-treat the roads and sidewalks here. I know...crazy right.
Old Main is even more beautiful covered in white. :)

This is just how I have been feeling the past few days. Simply thankful. Thankful for life and all the things I have going on in it right now. I hope everyone is having a fantastic week!

Thanks for reading my blog! I hope it isn't too boring and I hope you are uplifted by it. :)

Have a great day!

Dorm Life

This post is completely dedicated to funny and annoying things that happen in Pomfret Honors Quarters.

  • Annoying: The girls in the room next to us who feel the need to be extremely loud at 3:00am.
  • Funny: living in the honors dorm where nerds correct all grammatical errors on flyers and signs
    Example:

Background information: There is a girl who lives down the hallway from us and we refer to her as "Free Willy" because when I was moving in she had a shirt with Free Willy on it and the name just kind of stuck. Anyway...she is slightly awkward, and she has almost ran over Madison and I multiple times.
  • Annoying: Free Willy running....everywhere, all the time. She runs to her room. She runs to the elevator. She runs to the bathroom. She runs into you. And since the walls are paper thin you can hear Free Willy running down the hallway.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!
So in the middle of writing this the fire alarm went off! That is another annoying thing about living in the dorm; fire alarms that go off at 1:30am. This is like the 938493820893595th time that the fire alarms have gone off in Pomfret this year. Madison and I can recite the message that comes over the intercom. "beep, beep, beep....beep, beep, beep...Attention, Attention, and emergency has been reported in this building. Please cease operations and leave the building utilizing the nearest exit or fire exit." So I decided out of the blue to video this experience and I am glad I did. We walk out in the hall and Free Willy is wearing a CAPE! OMG is was sooooooo funny! I cannot even begin to explain how funny it was! You can just watch the video if you would like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EHbaQlHzZ0&context=C3e74962ADOEgsToPDskLYJqE5bpiETXjgsytYF1Bx

Then after we composed ourselves we sat on the rock out in front of Pomfret that we always sit on during fire drills.

Then we remembered that it was the weekend and that meant that Lola Corolla {Madison's Car} was close by! So we decided to drive around because it was cold. We also documented this little adventure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWZXcewdog0&context=C3e74962ADOEgsToPDskLYJqE5bpiETXjgsytYF1Bx

So needless to say we ended up at McDonald's....along with a million other people from Pomfret.

  • Funny: When we came back from the fire alarm there were two guys in what is called the Pomfret Great Room {really just a big room on the first floor of our dorm}. One of the guys was riding a Rip Stick and the other was riding a Razor Scooter. It was pretty funny.
  • Not Funny Just Gross: the Pomfreteria {the cafeteria in our dorm}. The food {if it can even be considered real food} is disgusting. I have had more cereal since I moved to college than I have in my entire life.
  • Annoying: when people from the second floor ride the elevator! We live on the 8th floor people! That is a long elevator ride even if you are the only one on it! Use the stairs!
  • Annoying: when people don't take their clothes out of the washer/dryer. I am not your mother and it is not my responsibility to switch your clothes from the washer to the dryer!
  • LOVE: the Pomfret bus driver. He is this sweet old man who drives the bus that takes us to the top of the hill. He always has a little piece of advice everyday! When I am old I hope to be like him!

That is all I can seem to think of right now but when something else comes up I will blog about it!

Peace and blessings!

Freshman Year

Tonight I decided that I should make a blog. I honestly don't care if anyone reads it. {I know I have one reader. She resides on the top bunk in room 813} I just want to be able to look back and remember all of the great memories I have been making since I moved to Fayetteville in August.

The last 6 1/2 months have flown by and they have been an absolute blast! From Razorback Football Games to having spa nights in our dorm room and taking pictures with Beanee Weenees there have been numerous memories made in a very short time.
